I really would like to GM

This is just a simple rant. I really want to DM. I really enjoy playing role playing games it is one of my favorite things to do. I really enjoy devising stories for my friends to enjoy. I like to mess with my player's minds. It's a lot of fun. Lately I haven't been able to GM a serious game for more than one session in several months. I am going into withdrawals.

Vindication :) This is not intended to be a flame post

Hurray and Huzzah I have been vindicated by Clint. Sorry Utsquishy but I did post the Savage worlds question about the number of figures per square on the official Savage worlds forum. I got an answer back from Clint. Assuming standard scale and medium Characters One figure per square. You can have an ally pass though a square but you can't have more than on figure per square and have them act normally.

http://www.peginc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25948 for clint's answer.

The case of the missing I

We got a new wii game for Christmas this year, it is "Wii Sports Resort". Let me tell you it is addictive.

The game is set on a virtual Island Resort. One of the mini games is Island fly over. The object of the game is to find as many point of interest (I's) as possible. There are 80 possible I's to find. I have found 79 and have no idea where the last one could be. Confounded game.

Something has got to be done. (parental discretion is advised no really I am not sure young readers should read this one)

I am not sure what but something has to be done. I have found something disturbing, I guess you could call it Utah's dirty secret. Every year since 2000 Utah has had a rape rate higher than the national average. Supposedly in 2003 Utah's rape rate was second only to Alaska. (reported in the salt lake Tribune)

Last year, the rate was not the second highest in the nation but is was still above average. In my opinion that is simply not acceptable. Of course I am not sure what to do about it. I am already an advocate for responsible gun ownership and concealed carry. A weapon is a great explanation point to NO!

Rape is an infuriating topic for me, I have known victims and have seen the emotional trauma and pain that is the result of the assault. Many of the victims feel that the attack was somehow their fault. I can't emphasize this enough, it is not the fault of the victim. The victim didn't have a choice in the matter. It is the sole fault of the attacker. I am not just talking about the attackers that come from the bushes. I'm also talking about date rapists as well. In the case of date rape it is still the fault of the rapist and not the fault of his victim.

There are predators among us. I believe they used the feeling of guilt and shame their victims feel as s cloak to hide their despicable actions so they can prey on other victims. I think that somehow we need to pierce the cloak of secrecy take away the predator's camouflage and bring them to justice.

One of my cousins had an idea of what to do with rapist. He suggested locking them in a room with 5 of her biggest friends for 10 min. The friends should be given baseball bats. If the rapist can walk out his punishment is over. If not well that is just too damn bad.

I am not sure I disagree with him.

Allstate insurance good for something after all.

I just talked to my insurance agent. He said that with my policy as long as the damage is less than 1000 dollars my insurance rate will not go up. He further stated with my insurance I can have one accident in three years over 1000 dollars and my rates will not go up.

That make me feel a bit better. Yesterday still should have been drown at birth.

Allstate insurance

Sad tale today.

Two days ago. Well I have a book that describes what should have happened to that day. According the that author, "There are some days that should be drowned at birth and everyone sent back to bed with brandy, a box of chocolates, and a warm energetic companion." (The cipher)

To start out Trajen is getting to be fond of temper tantrums. He had a couple of really good ones that day. I'm not sure why. Temper tantrums do not get him what he wants.

The second reason two days ago should have been drown at birth is I backed my xterra into a parked Honda Pilot damaging the both rear bumpers. I had no idea who the owner of the pilot was so I called the police.

The owner showed up before the police. As she pulled up, in a separate car, she informed me she was the owner. I told her the police were already on the way. She calmly waited for the officer to arrive. When I apologized for crashing into her car she hastened to reassure me that these things happen.

We waited for the officer to arrive, when he did we filled out the paperwork and that was that.

I am now trying to reach our insurance agent. That in of itself has been a comedy of errors. I am not saying that my agent is bad, on the contrary he's quite good. The problem lies with me, I can't remember my new phone number.

I personally am very grateful that she was so gracious about the situation.

See I told you Two days ago should have been drown a birth.

I love conspiracy theories.

I love conspiracy theories

Conspiracy theories are great. My current favorites are the ones surrounding the JFK assassination. There is no direct evidence of anything other that Lee Oswald killed JFK, by himself with no help, yet there is always so much controversy surrounding the facts. If Jack Ruby could have kept control of his temper and not killed Oswald perhaps all of the controversy would have never been.

I wonder if most of the controversy surrounding the assassination stem from Oliver Stone’s Movie JFK. It seems that so many people take this move as fact when Mr. Stone admitted that he took artistic license with the timeline and the facts.

Mr. Stone’s movie maintains the theory of the so-called magic bullet, and The Pristine bullet. Mr. Stone also maintains that Oswald was a poor shot and could not have possibly fired 3 bullets in six seconds from a bolt-action rifle.

The magic bullet theory is as follows. At the time of the second shot JFK and the Texas Governor were struck. The adherents of the magic bullet there claim that in order for a single bullet to have struck JFK and the Governor and created a single wound path though both men it would have had to enter JFK’s back then exited JFK just under his neck going up. Then the bullet would have to pause in mid air. Turn left then right and enter the Governor’s body under his right armpit exit his chest just under his left nipple continue on though his left wrist and into left thigh.

The problem with this theory is obvious bullets do not behave this way. The adherents of this theory argue that there is no way one shot could have produced the wound path. They claim based on the wounds received by both men there must be more that one shooter. On the surface they seem to be right but there is a fundamental problem with this theory.

In order for this theory to work JFK and the Governor must be seated at the same height and width in the car. The Magic bullet theory also requires the Governor to be facing forward at the time of the shot. If you look at the tape of the assassination and the type of car used you will find that JFK was actually sitting 6 inches to the right and 3 inches higher than the Governor. In addition the Governor was not facing forward but had turned his body sharply to the right. With the correct seating arrangement in mind one can trace a single path though all of the entry and exit wounds on both Men. So much for the “Magic Bullet”

The so-called Pristine Bullet is even easier to debunk. According to the theory the bullet found with The Governor’s body could not have been fired it was not damaged enough. It had to have been planted by someone. Mr. Stone’s movie Claims that Jack Ruby planted it to frame Oswald. A quick glance at the photos of the bullet shows the errors the bullet is not pristine. It has obvious striations from rifling and the bullet is dented.

Mr. Stone’s movie claims the Oswald was a poor shot and could not have hit JFK at a distance of 88 yards and could not have possibly fired 3 shots in 6 seconds.

There are two problems with this theory. One Oswald was a Marine and rated was rated by the Corps as a Marksman. He regularly hit 48 and 49 out of a possible 50 at 200 yards.

The problem with 3 shots in 6 seconds well this is where Mr. Stone took artistic license with the timeline. The actual footage of the assassination reveals that all three shots were fired in 8 seconds not 6. More than enough time for an 80-year-old man to demonstrate for the History Channel that it quite possible to fire 3 shots in less than 8 seconds.

I have to admit that Personally I’d rather there was a conspiracy. I find that having more than one person involved in the shooting is more comfortable. I say comfortable because after analyzing my feelings involved I realized the idea of one man on his own being able to kill the most protected man in the United States to be frightening. After all if one man determined to kill JFK succeeded how easy would it be for a person bent on my death to kill me? It is a sobering thought.

Perhaps this others share my fear? Perhaps this fear is what really keeps these conspiracy theories going?

What are your thoughts?

Agents and rejection letters

Last night I sent off my first query letter. This morning I got back my first rejection letter. According to what I have read somewhere (I don't remember where)I can now claim to be a real author.

I am not sure how I feel about it. On one hand I had hoped despite all the odds it would be a simple process to get published. On the other hand now I have been rejected future rejections don't seem to matter as much.

Friday, May 8, 2009

The party ended. The revelers who once filled the street with noise and life have stumbled wearily to their lodgings. For the first time in a week subdued silence fills the streets. Seeking refuge in his rented room, Gillian takes to his bed and gratefully falls asleep.

From the hall, a thin sliver of light dimly illuminates the dark room as the door eases open. The light causes the exhausted Gillian to stir. After a brief pause, a slight form slips through the door and steals into the room. Once in the room the invader extinguishes the tightly shuttered lantern and sinks into the shadows watching her beloved. Deep in sleep Gillian does not wake and does not realize his sometime stalker, Athdara, invaded his room.

Unnoticed by either Athdara or the slumbering Gillian another form slips into the room via the open window. With the ease of long practice Gildor slithers silently across the empty floor. He pausing for a moment when he saw Athdara seated on the floor. She was looking right at him but not seeing him. Waiting for the right moment Gildor did not move. Athdara looked away seemingly lost in thought or perhaps in her music. The moment was now. Gildor quietly stole to the side of Gillian’s bed keeping the bulk of the bed between him and Athdara.

It would be so easy to kill this one, Gildor thought. Just a quick thrust of a dagger to the heart or, a stiletto in the ear. If it so easy, why couldn’t I kill her? It should have been so easy. Now the contract is broken, the assassin’s guild will come after me. Rajah has been looking for an excuse to come after me and I have handed him one on a silver platter. I should go back. I must go back to her room and finish the job… I can’t go back.

With a shrug Gildor redirected his attention to the take at hand. It would never do to have him screaming Gildor thought.

With the speed of the striking snake Gildor’s hand shot out and covered Gillian’s mouth.

The slight warrior monk’s reactions are good. As soon as he felt Gildor’s hand cover his mouth, he brought his hands up and readied a strike. He relaxed bit when he felt the intruder’s other hand press some paper against his chest. Fully awake Gillian realized he’d been expecting this intruder.

“I’m sorry, I couldn’t get you a copy of the documents as you expected. It is unusual for me to request access to the archives let alone documents of this nature. They were watching me like hawks watch mice. This is the best I could do.”

Gillian nodded his acceptance but could not keep the disappointment from his face. He hoped that this unexpected expected meeting would end his life quest to find what happened to his parents.

Gildor turned back to the window and prepared to leave.

“Wait,” Athdara cried, “Who is that woman.”

Gillian bolt upright, “What are you doing in here?”

“Never mind that now,” Athdara replied. Then looked back at Gildor, and demanded, “Well who is that woman?”

“What woman. Oh you must mean Lisaria, she is the woman I am going to die for.”

“What do you mean?”

“I am going to be killed because of that woman.”

With that Gildor slipped out the window and disappeared into the darkness below.

Athdara ran to the window trying to get one last glimpse of her new infatuation but she was too late.

Gillian walked over to Athdara grabbed her shoulder and roughly spun her to face him. Leaning forward so close that there noses were almost touching.

Slowly and distinctly Gillian said, “What… Are… You… Doing… Here?”

“This is the first time I’ve done it.” Athdara said defensively.

“Well don’t do it again.”

Gillian turned his attention away from the unrepentant Athdara to the folded paper he still had clutched in his hand. Slowly Gillian walked the room looking for light source so he could read the document. After several seconds of looking he found Athdara’s abandoned lantern. Glancing sidelong at Athdara, Gillian picked up the lantern and lit it.
Un-shuttering the lantern and carefully unfolding the paper Gillian studied the contents.

It is a map, a map of Elvendaria. The northeast section of the map contained a small red circle. The margins of the map had a handwritten message it read:

“I’m sorry this is the best that I could do. I could not get access to the documents describing what happened to your parents. Those documents are classified Crown eyes only. They must be a part of the legendary Book of Kings. The documents I do have access to describe a secret military base at the location marked on the map. I used to be an officer in Special Forces, until I saw these documents I had no idea the base even existed. There is something there the area has been given a threat level IV rating. Until today, the highest treat rating I have head of was level III. If you decide to go to this area you need to know the King intends for this secret to remain secret the soldiers are authorized to use deadly force to keep out intruders.”

Editing Finished for now

I have printed a copy of my book. Yes I am finally finished with editing. I have a friend who is a professor of English. She is going to take a look. I dropped the book off at her home last night. After I get it back from her I know there will be some issues that need to be corrected. After I correct those issue. Time to find an agent and publisher.

Alternate beginning for my book.

I have been thinking about the beginning of my book. I am not sure if it attention grabbing enough. I have come up with an alternate beginning. See if you like it. Keep in mind it will just be place at the front of what I have already posted. I am not sure if I am including this section so it is still in a rough form.

A blinding flash of light and a thundering blast the Prima-cord detonated sending the ornate door crashing into the room.

“Go, go, go,” lead screamed into my ear.

My feet slammed onto the door as it hit the ground under my feet. I was the first in the room with Roberto right on my heels. Smoke from the blast obscured the room. Rifles readied we piled into the room. Wood and glass crunched under foot.

My feet tangled on a smashed piece of cabinet, causing me to stumble. Roberto advanced in front of me.

Blurring up from the couch a woman stood with a pistol in her hand. Barking once the small weapon fired. Roberto’s head snapped back, blood streaming from the exit wound.

I centered my sight picture on the woman. She’s turning her weapon in my direction. Squeezing the trigger almost caressing it I fired. A quick burst from my weapon splashed her all over the back wall. It’s a beautiful sight. It’s the sexiest way to look a woman, bloodily spattered all over the walls and the floor.

Roberto was always a stupid bastard now we are going to have haul his heavy ass out of here and find the stupid bullet case from the woman’s gun.

The target should be in her room. We don’t have much time. We shouldn’t have had to fire a shot we shouldn’t have to search the room for the bullet case. The staff would be calling the police. Lead headed off in the direction of the girl’s room. I followed closely on his heels. My rifle covering the left hand side as we traveled down the hall. Reaching the door to the girls room Lead took a Tranquilizer gun from his vest holster. Lead nodded his head; I reached out and opened the door. The target was out in the open. She was crossing the room, she must have been curious about the noise. Makes it easy for us.

With a little puff of air the dart sped out of Lead’s pistol and into the girls chest. She stood there looking at the dart stupidly for a couple of seconds. Then, her legs gave out and she toppled over. I gathered her in my arms and tossed her over my shoulder.

The trip back to the door was fast and uneventful. That’s good for us; we don’t have too much time.

“Two, get her into the van,” Lead ordered, “Three, get the bullet case if you can spot it quickly. Then, get Four’s body and get out of here. Don’t take more than thirty seconds.”

I raced to the van with the girl. I think that I crossed the distance in record time. The door slid open automatically.

“Was there any trouble Malloy,” The driver asked?

“Some, Roberto bought it.”

stupid weather

It is has been snowing outside. I really don’t care for snow in the spring. Just a couple days ago it was nice warm weather. Time to fly the kite and take Trajen to the park. Trajen loves parks. He loves to slide down slides. Big slides, little slides all slides he likes ‘em. Now it’s cold and wet and looks to be cold and wet for the rest of the week.

I am not really sure of the point of this post. If anyone has any Ideas please let me know.

A different sort of "Savage Worlds" adventure

Inspired by a friend of mine (Richard) I purchased a new Role Playing Game book. The book is for the “Savage Worlds” game. It looks like and interesting gaming system. The rules look very simple and the game looks like it was designed for fast play. The rules are set up to cover any Genre. Tiffany wants me to work on a pirate adventure. I have been toying with a scenario in which Zombies attack our apartment building. Both games can be played with the same system. Cool huh.

But, that’s not the real reason that I am writing this blog. The real reason, I had an adventure in just getting the book. I bought the book on Saturday by Monday some of the pages were starting to come out of the binding. This is not really a problem as I was just going to have Kinko’s cut off the spine and have the book spiral bound.

I took the book to Kinko’s on Monday, they told me they could have it bound while I waited. So I was just chatting back and forth with the Guy who was doing the work. While he was punching the holes for the binding the said Oops.

Oops is never a good thing and I told him as much. He said, “No it’s not. I will show you what happened in just a second.”

The man continued to punch the holes once completed he brought it over for me to inspect. One section of the book had not been aligned correctly causing the holes to walk off the edge of the page. Only about the bottom third of the page could be correctly bound.

The man was obviously not happy about his work. He did suggest a couple of cosmetic fixes but still he was not pleased. I was not pleased with his work. I asked him for his suggestion. He sent me back to the Hobby store where I purchased the book to by another copy on his dime. I then brought back the book to his store where he rebound the book for me. When I told asked him how much I owed him he refused payment.

Who says Customer service is dead. I will be going back to that Kinko’s in the future.

Revisions and more revisions

Its 1:15 am. I have just spent most of the day, in fact I have spent a good part of the last couple of weeks working on revisions to my book. My brains are mush but I am closer to the end of this set of revisions.

Strange things that I have pulled from Trajen’s mouth.

Lately, Trajen has been eating all sorts of things and it seems that I am the only one that is able to take the objects out of his mouth. Things that I have found in his mouth include quarters, dimes, pennies, thread, paper, yarn and tacks. I am not sure why he has taken to shoving all kinds of things in his mouth.

For your reading I have posted a the opening sequence of my book.

Blood spatter stained the walls and the ceiling of the room that I walked into. Murder had been committed in this room, a bad one. I had been called by the victim’s employer to investigate the death of the nanny and reported kidnapping of their daughter, Adrianne.

One good thing about this case is that I had the full cooperation of the police. They did not dare refuse me access to the evidence. The victims were wealthy and Jennifer, the kidnap victim’s mother, was well connected in local politics. It didn't hurt that Congress had passed a law allowing private individuals the right to hire investigators to "assist" police. Too many unsolved crimes and low manpower is getting to be too much for the good citizens to accept. This has made my life both easier and more complicated. Easier because jobs are more plentiful, harder because, well, following police chain of evidence protocols is complicated and restrictive. Ah, but such is life.

Like I said, the Castilles are wealthy. Jennifer Castille is an executive vice president of Torguersen Enterprises. I am not sure what sort of business Torguersen is into. All know about them is that they are a young company that is doing very well in the rough and tumble world of today's high tech market. I am not sure what they do exactly but I had the feeling I was going to find out before this case was solved. Everything in today’s market is rough and tumble because of the continuing oil crisis. The United States has a guaranteed source of oil. We can guarantee it because we fought a war and won. To the victor go the spoils, I guess. Even still there is a shortage of oil.

Xavier Castille. Well, what can I say about Xavier? I met him back when we were Uncle Sam's. We are both veterans of the Oil War. We were assigned to the same military intelligence unit. Please, no wise cracks about how military intelligence is an oxy-moron. Believe me, I have heard them all. Xavier was flat paranoid when I knew him and the army encouraged that trait in him. After all, thinking that everyone is out to get you is not a bad trait in a counter-intelligence officer. After we got out his paranoia worsened. He was always intelligent. Crazy smart. After discharge, we went our separate ways. He used his pension and the GI bill to further his education, receiving his Doctorate degree from MIT. I used my pension to get blind drunk for five years. I have the dubious honor of being one of the few men that he trusts, so we’ve kept in touch as much as his paranoia would allow. The contact is not much, but it got me this job.

What is my job? My Job is simple. Find Adrianne and bring her back alive. If she is not alive, my job is to bring the perps that committed this crime a taste of justice. That would be my pleasure. No one messes with little girls. No one!

"Joe, thanks for letting me in to eyeball the scene."

"No problem."

Joseph O’Connor is one of the good cops; hardworking and a very good investigator.

"Tell me something, Dan. It must be nice to be able to work only one or two cases at a time, right?"

"You sound a little bitter."

"I am. You private guys start coming in and busting the perps. It makes us look like we can’t do our jobs."

"Oh come on, Joe. I know better than that. If you guys had the time this case would be busted wide open. Just think of me as a special resource. I’m not here to take your job. I don’t want the stress. Besides, who cares who gets the perps as long as they are in cages where they belong?"

"The press, and by extension the mayor."

"Ah, man I am sorry."

" Surely. I know it’s not your fault. It is just that we are getting a lot of pressure on this one, ya know."

"I hear you. Tell ya what; I am on your side. I will keep you ‘department guys’ in the loop on what I shake loose."

"Thanks, Dan."

"I am not here to compete with you. I just want to find Adrianne."

"We know. That is one of the reasons that we cooperate with you. The law says that we have to let you work the case, but no one said we have to help you."

He stood there in the center of the room, his pristine gray suit looking very out of place in the chaos of the nearly destroyed room. His face was serious but his eyes held just a hint of mischievousness. Taking the chance.

"Okay what is going on? What's with the hostile speech?"

"Okay, officially, the department disapproves of the whole concept of going to private investigators for help and we are doing our best to discourage people from using them. Lets be real, most of your colleagues are better at photographing cheating husbands, and should stick to that. They could not investigate their way out of a paper bag. In fact, most of the people in my department feel the same way about you. Now, I know better. I just thought you should be prepared for the kind of reaction you are likely to get from the department."

"Okay, I can understand where you guys are coming from."

"Now that we have that clear, I think that you should be aware of a couple of things. These should be included in the reports we gave you, but I just wanted to make sure that you saw them. First, the security door was designed to be very difficult to by pass. Military grade explosives removed it. Second, the weapons used to kill the nanny were also military grade. She was shot at least four times by flechette rounds fired from two automatic weapons. The flechettes shredded the poor girl. There almost wasn't enough for the medical examiner to examine."

He wasn't kidding. I had seen the pictures included in the report they gave me. Nasty. It wasn't difficult to imagine how it had happened. Sarah, the nanny, was sitting here on what was then a couch, watching Adrianne and the TV. The heavy steel door exploded inward taking out the curio-cabinet. Even before the door was finished bouncing, at least 2 perps, probably more, leapt though the gaping hole in the wall, searching for targets. Two of them found her and fired two rounds. If this was a military operation that I was critiquing, I would have found very little to say. That was the scary part.

"I can see it in your eyes, Dan. You know how it happened don't you? If you find these guys don’t try to take them on your own. SWAT is a call a way."

"I thought you said the department guys don't like me."

"Many of them don't, but they hate these animals more."

"What is the motive?"

"Money, we assume. The Castilles have quite a bit of that commodity."

"The report does not mention a ransom demand."

"We are not holding out on you. The simple truth is we have not received one yet."

"Why would you hire a mercenary unit to snatch someone for money, then not ask for money? That doesn't make sense. How sure are we that Adrianne is still alive?"

"We’re not. We didn’t find a second murder scene in the house, but she could have been taken elsewhere and killed there. You know the statistics as well as I do. Most kidnapping victims are killed in the first three hours."

"I don't buy that and, neither do you. The job was too professional, too clean. No, if these guys wanted her dead they would have killed her right here rather than take the risk of getting caught with her. I guess they could have taken her to kill her in some kind of special statement, but the Castilles are not that connected to politics to make a good target. No, my guess is that the perps are waiting for official interest to die down. Then they will make their demand."

"That sounds as workable as any other theory the we have come up with down at Homicide.”

"What about the Fed's?"

"What about them?"

"This is a kidnapping. Don't they usually get involved?"

"This crime was not a kidnapping. According to them it was murder, so they are hands off."

"I know that this is an unusual request but, I would like to keep my involvement in this matter quiet. I know some of my colleagues would announce to the world that they are taking a case that you police can't solve. Then they proceed to tell everyone how they are going to be able to finish the job. I have no intention of doing that for two reasons. First, I have way to much respect for the department and for you personally to do that to you and second...."

" Surely that’s another reason we will help you, Dan."

".... I hope that by not announcing that I have become involved it will cause the perps to get confident and either go to the next step in the process, or make a mistake that can be exploited. Third, have no intention of making myself a target for the mercs to take pot shots at if I can help it."

"Now, that last part I can understand."

"What else should I know about the scene?"

"Everything else is in the report. Listen, just before you got here, the forensic guys paged me from the scene of a triple homicide. I have to go. There is a ‘uniform’ on duty outside if you need anything else."

"Okay, Joe. I will talk to you later. Hey, Joe, before you go there is something you need to see."

A glint of metal under the couch had caught my eye. I had pulled a light out of my pocket and shined it under the couch.

“What do you have?”

“Spent shell. You got a pen?”

“I thought my guys went over this went over this room with a fine tooth comb.”

Joe handed me a pen. I pulled the spent cartridge out and placed it into a bag that Joe has standing by. Joe held it up so he could read the markings.

“Looks like Forty caliber. Where did this come from?” Joe asked.

“The most likely shooter is Sarah.”

“There was no gun with her body.”

“Maybe she hit one and they took her gun to cover the fact they had wounded.”

“Why didn’t they take the shell?”

“Maybe they couldn’t find it.”

“Could be. Let me know if you find anything else. I really have to go.”

I watched Joe leave in his nice clean suit. His dry cleaning bill must be tremendous.

The room I was standing in was totally destroyed. The explosives that demolished the door also destroyed portions of the front wall. The door itself exploded with enough force to smash a cabinet and gouge big hole in the wallboard of the room. If the debris from the door breach were not enough to make the room unlivable, the blood sprayed all over the far wall and furniture would have completed the job. The room was a complete disaster.

Moving carefully around the room, I located the area where the police had recovered what was left of the body. Looking at the patterns of blood spray from the door to the wall I could tell where the shooters had been. Sarah was fast. She stood from the couch and turned to face the door just as the shooters entered the room. That may have been what got her killed. I doubted it. They would have probably killed her regardless.

I spent the next several minuets looking for the forty-caliber bullet matching the case that I gave to Joe. I didn’t find one. It may have left in the body of one of the attackers or it could have missed the attackers and gone out the open door. One thing for sure is the bullet was not in this room. Deciding that I could no longer spend time looking for the bullet that may not even be here I left room to take a look at the rest of the house.

The rest of the house was cordoned off as part of the crime scene. I need to find Adrianne's room. Quickly scanning the reports, I was able to find directions to the little girl’s room. I know it sounds strange... but honestly if you would have seen the size of the house you would have understood the enormity of the place. Lets be real, it would have taken the better part of hour to open every door in the place. Okay, so maybe that is an exaggeration but not much of one. I mean this place was big. After a few minutes of searching, I finally found Adrianne's room. My wife always tells me that I have a hard time following directions. She is right of course, she always is. That’s why she is in charge.

Adrianne's room was a complete contrast to the front room. In perfect order, it was almost as if the kidnappers had cleaned the room after they had taken the girl. Or, she had not put up a fuss. I knew a number of ways to take a person with out them resisting. The first and easiest is that the perp is someone the victim trusts. This would require inside help. I was not wild about that idea. If there was inside help, the perps would know I was coming. This was not a happy thought. Inside help was not the only way to take a person without resisting. Drugs would work as would simple overwhelming force. I needed to find out a little more about Adrianne. How would she react to the sound of gunfire? How well was she trained in the concept of Stranger Danger? Did she have a guard? If so, where was the guard? I wondered if the guard had been Sarah. Like I mentioned before, she did have good reaction time. Most people would have still have been sitting on the couch when the perps came though the door. After checking the scene I would need to carefully read over the reports, then Yoshi and I would need to go and interview the Castille's.

Jennifer is the only one that we will be able to interview. Xavier is missing, but no one thinks this fact is relevant. Xavier regularly went missing. It was rumored that he had a hidden lab in which he worked. I knew Xavier. He was nuts about security. His lab would be very difficult to find and, once found, it would be nearly impossible to penetrate. I would just have to wait for him to surface before speaking with him. From what I heard, that could take a while.
Okay, so I finished the actual writing of my book a while ago. Now I am stuck in revision heck. Every time I go though a section of my book I find things to add or take away. I am not sure when to stop. It is enough to drive one crazy.
