Vampires and Cold Fusion
I know this may not be a popular attitude with some people; however, I'm just sick of heroic sparkling vampires. It's a good literary device to have the hero overcoming his natural tendencies to prey on the the on the leading lady. However, I fell that it takes away from the essential creepiness of the Vampires.
In my opinion Vampires should be nasty Villains to be overcome by cunning and guile. Or possibly by simple brute force magical or otherwise. The only good Vampire is one that has been Staked and Baked.
On a different note it has been pointed out to me, by a source I trust, it will be difficult for me to sell my book to publishers if the ultimate source of evil are Arabs. It smacks of Racism. I was concerned about my book being perceived as racist during the first stages of writing. I asked an Arabic friend about it and he assured me that my fears were baseless; however, I think he may be wrong.
Now to combine the two ideas, in my book Cold fusion, I will be changing the source of evil from the Cult of The Assassins to a cooperation headed by a vampire. Religating the Cult of Assassins to the status of hirelings should remove the rasist arguments.
I find this Idea appealing on a couple of different levels. First, anyone who knows me knows that I am not fond of big business. Second, well I have already discussed my dislike of vampires. Making a vampire CEO the ultimate source of evil in my book put big business and vampires in their proper places as villains.
